Library Manager

Organization: Clyde-Savannah Public Library, Clyde, NY

Civil Service Classification: Competitive

Salary: $50,000 to $57,000 per year, commensurate with experience

Full-Time: 38 hours/week

About Clyde-Savannah Public Library

The Board of Trustees of the Clyde-Savannah Public Library in Clyde, NY seeks a creative, energetic, and collaborative Library Manager to continue the library’s commitment to library service and community connection. The Clyde-Savannah Public Library is a New York State school district public library serving a population of 5,521.

Distinguishing Features of the Position

Duties and Responsibilities

• Interviews candidates and recommends hiring, promotion, and disciplinary decisions to the board; trains and directly supervises library staff
• Provides opportunities for continuing education for staff
• Evaluates job performance and conducts reviews
• Ensures adherence to all library policies
• Monitors the condition of the library building and recommends maintenance, repairs, and alterations to the board
• Assesses library collections and purchases and catalogs library materials, supervising staff members who assist with these tasks
• Attends library board meetings, system meetings, and relevant educational seminars and conferences
• Assesses and reviews the library budget and participates in policy creation and modification
• Initiates and supervises library outreach events, classes, training, and programming
• Pursues, selects, schedules, and evaluates relevant library programming, classes, and events within the community

Minimum Qualifications

Required: BS or BA.

Preferred: Master’s Degree in Library Science (MLS) with two (2) years of professional library and/or administrative experience

Employment Status

Appointment to this position will be provisional, pending the administration of a competitive civil service examination for the Library Manager title.
