Temporary PT Reference Librarian

The Suffern Free Library (Rockland County) is looking for a Temporary Part-Time reference librarian to work on weekdays for a total of 20 hours per week.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Answer patrons' reference inquiries, including information about library materials and events
• Assist patrons with their technology questions and problems, including but not limited to digital library services such as Libby, Hoopla, RCLS Go, and electronic databases
• Locate library materials for patrons, including books, DVDs, and music CDs
• Reader’s advisory for both adults and young adults
• Assist reference department in completing special projects (examples: inventory and weeding)
• Assist other staff members with set-up for events that the library is holding, including helping out with tech issues
• Enforcing library’s policies and regulations, including Code of Conduct
• Contact necessary staff, administrators, and authorities in case of an emergency

QUALIFICATIONS 

• MLIS from an ALA-accredited school
• Current NY State Professional Librarian’s Certificate
• Proficiency with computers and smart devices
• Internet and Microsoft Office skills
• Ability to keep your head in tense situations and emergencies a must
• Experience with using Koha and Aspen a plus

SCHEDULE 

• Mondays and Tuesdays, 9:30 AM-1:30 PM
• Wednesdays, 4-8 PM
• Thursdays and Fridays, 9:30 AM-1:30 PM

Rate Information: $27 per hour
