Due to three recent retirements, the Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library has an exciting opportunity to hire three full-time librarians. Adult Services Librarian -- Reporting to the Head of Adult Services, the Adult Services Librarian is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing library services and programs for adults. Participates in collection development and maintenance for assigned collections. Provides exceptional customer service, reference assistance, and readers’ advisory to patrons of all ages. Communicates effectively and works as part of a larger Adult Services team. Embraces change and is willing to explore new ideas and creative approaches to engaging our community. 

Community Engagement & Outreach Librarian -- Reporting to the Assistant Director of Planning and Communications, the Community Engagement & Outreach Librarian is responsible for building relationships with community organizations, seeking opportunities to promote library services in the community, representing the Library at events, and collaborating with staff to identify and respond to community needs. Participates in collection development for assigned collections.  Provides exceptional customer service, reference assistance, and readers’ advisory to patrons of all ages. 

Youth Services Librarian – Reporting to the Head of Youth Services, the Youth Services Librarian is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing library services and programs for children. Takes part in outreach and other events promoting the library’s services. Provides exceptional customer service, reference assistance, and readers’ advisory to patrons of all ages. Participates in collection development and maintenance for assigned collections. Communicates effectively and works as part of a larger youth services team. Embraces change and is willing to explore new ideas and creative approaches for engaging our community. 

Minimum Qualifications for Librarian I Positions:  

• Master’s degree of Library and Information Science from a library school that is accredited by the ALA or recognized by the NYS Education Department following acceptable education methods AND  

• Eligibility for a New York State public librarian’s professional certificate at time of application for appointment; possession of certificate at time of appointment 

Civil Service 

Librarian I is a competitive position within the Saratoga County Civil Service Administration; therefore, any appointment will be provisional until such time as the Civil Services Examination is administered and an established eligible list is used to make a permanent appointment.
