Part-Time Librarian I in Children’s Services Department (17.5 hours per week)

The Half Hollow Hills Community Library is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and motivated children’s librarian to join our Children’s Services Department serving children and their families. The successful candidate must enjoy working with children, possess effective communication skills and be able to work well with staff and the public.

 

Requirements:

Candidate must possess an MLS degree from an ALA accredited library school and 12 credits in children’s coursework.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Working at a busy youth services desk includes assisting children and caregivers in library services and locating library materials.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Plan, organize and conduct programs for families with children.
  • Possess excellent communication and organizational skills for working collaboratively on library programs and events.
  • Promote library services through community outreach to schools and local organizations.

Salary/Benefits:

The starting salary is $30.63/hr. Positions allow for up to 17.5 hours per week. The hours will include two evening shifts and a Saturday rotation and may include morning hours or afternoon hours. Sundays are voluntary and are determined by signup twice a year.

 

The Half Hollow Hills Community Library has a professional staff association represented by NYSUT. Benefits include NYS Retirement Plan, paid accrued time off as outlined in the collective bargaining agreement.
