Niagara Falls Public Library is looking to hire a new member in its Reference Services Department. Prospective candidates should enjoy working with a diverse population and delivering high-quality customer service with tact, courtesy, and professionalism to all users of the library – both on-site and in the community. The Reference Services Librarian will provide engaging and inclusive programming, as well as outreach to adults and researchers.
This position reports to the Executive Library Director.
POSITION: Librarian 1(Full Time) – Reference Services Department
SPECIFIC DUTIES (illustrative):
WORK SCHEDULE:
37 hours per week, spread over 5 days; a combination of daytime, evening, and Saturday hours
SALARY RANGE: $22.3815 - $31.3454/hr.; $40 734 - $57 048 Annual, Grade 17A

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
MLS or equivalent from an ALA Accredited Library School (required)
NYS Public Librarian’s Certificate (required)
Commitment to customer-centered, quality public library service
Excellent communication skills
Attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and with others
Desirable:
Candidate with multilingual skills
RESIDENCY: Candidates are strongly encouraged to live in the City of Niagara Falls within 6 months of hire, Librarian 1 candidates may live in Niagara or Erie County.
